Councilmember Mark Smith

Councilmember Mark Smith grew up in Lynnwood and is a graduate of Lynnwood High School (’79) and the University of Washington (’86). He lived and worked in Japan for many years as a university instructor before returning to Lynnwood in 2004 with his wife, Miho, and their two children, Hannah and Raymond. He has worked in non-profit management since 2006 and currently is the Executive Director of the Housing Consortium of Everett & Snohomish County. 

Mark was first elected to the Lynnwood City Council in 2005. He has served as Council President, Chair of the Finance Committee, Chair of the Budget Task Group, and as council liaison to various citizen boards and commissions.

Councilmember Smith currently serves as council liaison to the city’s Parks & Recreation Citizen’s Board, the Citizen’s Patrol and the Lynwood Tourism Advisory Committee. His main areas of policy interest are City Finances, Economic Development, Human Services and Sustainable Growth.

Mark and his family live near Meadowdale High School.
